Re: another foray into theatrical dance for those who love their Halloweeny events
Mon, October 30, 2006 - 10:12 AMsneak preview of SOME of the content of the show....
~Bluebeard~
"Bluebeard was an aristocrat, with a lifestyle no one could understand. He had everything a man could want; fine houses, both in town and country, a deal of silver and gold plate, embroidered furniture, and coaches gilded all over with gold. But he was lonely.
He already had been married to several wives, and nobody knew what had become of them. He has loved each and every one of them, in his own special way. He courts his new bride, and showers her with his generosity and wealth. However, he hides from her a dark secret.
Tonight, take a peek into the mind of this psychopath, where everything seems normal... to him."
~La Llorona~
All Who Wander Along The Great Rivers Edge Beware. She Searches The Night For Her Long Lost Children. Drowned By Her Own Hand. Her Mournful Wailing Echoing Over The Water. She Is Death, The Rueful, Vindictive Face Of Nightmares.
~Tremor~
A dance monologue that explores the inner landscapes of a drug addict…their coping with sobriety and spiraling back down into addiction, indeed, perhaps never truly escaping addiction but creating their own fantasies about escaping the addiction….
~The Girl & the Monster~
Once upon a time, Victor Frankenstein created a monster who met a girl
willing to be her friend. Join us on a fateful day in the woods.
~Artificial Intelligence~
This piece features cybernetic organisms, dancers as bionic humanity where the lines are blurred. The mainstay rule that the animal kingdom lives by is: “survival of the fittest”. Apply this survival instinct to artificial intelligence/ technology…..and we find the instinct to survive is present in every sentient being….
~Best Foot Forward~
Cinderella's stepsister hacks off her toes to fit into the glass slipper. This Brothers Grimm version is spliced with Southeast Asian stylings.
~Alessa’s Revenge~
Guard your hearts and your troubled minds. Those in a "bad place" may find themselves in the hell-world of Silent Hill. Woe to those who find they need medical attention...the hospital is no place for help.
~Ariellah~
Realm of the dead soul...lost, tormented...she has come back to find
herself...it is an unfolding, a transformation, an offering, of
herself, upon the world...an unleashing, if you will...she will tear away at your very own soul...
~Stuffed Nightmare~
This dance vignette deals with childhood fear…nothing seemed more down-to-your-bones terrifying as a small child like your nightmares did. Enough so that they had the power of sending you running through the darkened house in the middle of the night to your parents’ room to beg to sleep in their bed…Here we witness the autobiographical childhood nightmare of the choreographer…
with a cast of innovative dancers such as:
Ariellah
Kashmir
Rachel Lazarus Soto
Elayssa, Tatianna, Sayaka, Sherri, Akasha Starr, and Sina of Desert Sin
Subee Djinn
Lorraine
Myths and Legends Dance Co
Laurie Buenafe
and more!! -
